Editorial Standards

Last updated April 2026

These are the editorial principles The Air Gazette publishes under. For our specific approach to AI tooling and corrections, see the linked policies.

01

Editorial Independence

Our editorial team operates independently from commercial, airline, and advertising relationships. Airline carriers, manufacturers, and other industry stakeholders do not influence our editorial decisions. Advertising and sponsored content are clearly labeled and separated from news coverage.

02

Sourcing Standards

The Air Gazette relies on primary sources wherever possible:

  • FAA airworthiness directives, type certificates, and enforcement actions
  • SEC filings and earnings call transcripts for public carriers
  • Union contracts (ALPA, AFA-CWA, TWU, IBT) for salary and compensation data
  • On-record statements from airline, manufacturer, and FAA spokespeople
  • NTSB preliminary and final reports for safety coverage

Anonymous sources are used only when information is of significant public interest and the source faces a credible risk of retaliation. All anonymous sourcing is reviewed by an editor before publication.

03

Accuracy and Fact-Checking

All articles are reviewed by an editor before publication. Salary figures must be sourced from official union contracts or verified pay stubs. Financial data must reference the original filing. Safety information must cite FAA or NTSB source documents.

04

Authorship and Credentials

Every article carries a clear byline with the author's real name. Author profiles include professional background, beat coverage, and social media or LinkedIn links for verification. Guest contributors are vetted by our editorial team and must disclose any airline industry relationships.

05

Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial interests, employment relationships, or personal connections to airlines, manufacturers, or aviation organizations they cover. The editorial team reviews all disclosures before publication. Authors who hold airline employee status or pilot certificates must disclose this affiliation.
